school, long trips, and albums that have yet to be created…
this was originally posted on my myspace blog but i’ve moved it here since i’m deleting that.
wuttup kinfolks -
so, i’ve finally finished this long-ass semester, got all my term papers in and tests taken, and now i’ve got just a couple days free to try to snap out of that shit and go back to being a human and a musician again for a little while. i’ve been wanting to visit ireland and the other celtic nations since i was like 5 years old but until now i’ve never had enough money to actually make the trip so this is a big deal for me, and to be able to go as a musician instead of just another tourist makes it even better.
for folks that care, the final lineup of the trip is that i’ll be in glasgow on the second, fort williams on the third, hiking from there to fort augustus and then inverness, catching a train from inverness to edinburgh, and on to london for the art not oil expo on the tenth and then on to wales and ireland for the shows i’ve got listed. it’s not the huge tour it might have been, but that’s completely cool with me ‘cuz most of the reason i wanted to go in the first place was to see things and meet folks, not spend all my time on busses, trains, and stages.
in the meantime i’m just trying not to get sick and getting everything ready. the band (Beltaine’s Fire) is kind of on hold for now, chris just graduated, laura and i are leaving for the month of course, and miles is dealing with some family stuff for a while. with a little luck we’ll be able to put the pieces together in july and august and finally get that album recorded before chris moves to LA in september. at that point its an open question whether we’ll try to find a new drummer and keep going or not, but we promised ya’ll an album so you’ll get it by october (once mastering and all that is done) at the absolute latest. still don’t know what it’s gonna be called. I’m also starting work on a new solo album and will hopefully have that ready some time late next year. expect to see a lot of collaboraions on this one with artists from all over the place… i’m at the point now where i’ve said pretty much what i’ve got to say about the incredible fucked-up-ness that is the american government and economic system, my next album is gonna take this shit global.
anyway, that’s about all the news from my neck of the woods, i’ll see ya’ll in the streets -
